1. Scope
This policy covers information handled by the Electrician Field Guide website and product-support process. Polar Software, Inc. separately processes checkout, payment, tax, receipt, portal, and delivery information as merchant of record under Polar’s Privacy Policy.
2. Information handled by this website
The website does not offer customer accounts and does not collect full payment-card details. The hosting provider may process standard request data - such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security logs - to deliver and protect the site.
If a visitor arrives through a tagged link, the site may store UTM campaign parameters and the Meta click identifier (fbclid) in browser session storage. This storage belongs to the current browser session and may be cleared by the browser when the session ends. Meta Pixel may also set or read advertising identifiers such as _fbp and _fbc, subject to the visitor’s browser and privacy settings.
3. Checkout attribution
When a visitor selects a purchase button, supported UTM campaign parameters may be added to the Polar checkout together with a randomly generated checkout reference. This helps associate an order with a campaign and button location. The same-origin checkout endpoint may also copy validated Meta click and browser identifiers (_fbc and _fbp), browser information, and the client IP address into private checkout metadata so that a confirmed purchase can be attributed. The long-lived hosted checkout remains available if that endpoint is unavailable.
4. Polar checkout and delivery
Polar collects information needed to complete and document the transaction, which may include name, email address, billing details, tax information, order information, device data, and payment-related information. Polar and its payment partners process that information under their own terms and privacy policies. The product supplier may access order information needed for delivery support, accounting, refund handling, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
5. Support communications
If you contact support, the message, email address, order reference, and related correspondence may be retained as needed to answer the request, maintain transaction records, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
6. Analytics and advertising
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page traffic and website performance. The Cloudflare beacon may process request, page, referrer, browser, device, network, and performance information needed to provide aggregated website analytics. Cloudflare processes this information under its Privacy Policy.
This website uses Meta Pixel and the Conversions API to send PageView, homepage ViewContent, free-chapter FreeChapterAccess and FreeChapterEngaged, and purchase-button InitiateCheckout events. FreeChapterAccess records whether the sample PDF was opened or downloaded. FreeChapterEngaged is sent once on the free-chapter landing page after the visitor has remained for at least 30 seconds and reached at least 50 percent of the page. Matching browser and server events use the same event identifier so Meta can recognize them as one interaction rather than count them twice. These events may send Meta the page or referring URL, event details, browser and device information, IP-derived information, and Meta advertising identifiers.
After Polar confirms a paid order, the website’s server sends a Purchase event to Meta through the Conversions API. Depending on what is available for the order, that event may contain the order and product identifiers, price and currency, Meta advertising identifiers, browser and IP information, and normalized customer or billing identifiers transformed with SHA-256 hashing before transmission. These events are used to attribute purchases, measure advertising performance, and improve campaign delivery. Meta processes the information under its Privacy Policy.
7. Service providers and disclosure
Information may be processed by the website host, Cloudflare, Polar and its payment or delivery partners, Meta as described above, and email or support providers as needed to operate the website, measure traffic and advertising, complete purchases, deliver the product, respond to requests, prevent fraud, and comply with law. The product supplier does not sell personal information for money. Depending on the law that applies, advertising measurement or disclosure to an advertising provider may be treated as “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a “sale” even when no money is exchanged.
8. Retention and security
UTM and fbclid values kept in browser session storage remain only for that session unless the browser clears them sooner. Meta identifiers stored in cookies follow the lifetime applied by Meta and the visitor’s browser settings. Checkout-attribution values copied to an order follow the retention of the relevant transaction and measurement records. Hosting logs, support messages, and transaction-related records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for their purpose, security, accounting, dispute handling, or legal obligations. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Your choices and rights
You can block analytics and advertising scripts through compatible browser or content-blocking settings, clear or block browser storage, and manage how Meta uses activity from advertising partners through Meta’s privacy and advertising controls. The website remains readable if the Cloudflare or Meta script is blocked, although traffic measurement or advertising attribution may be incomplete. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or an opt-out from certain advertising-related processing. 10. Children and changes
The website and guide are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. This policy may be updated when the website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
